Spend the entire day chasing gremlins,,,
I have read all posts here about the charging system,,, And I thank you all for your wisdom, and problem solving suggestions,,
here is what i have done,,,
1. made a new ground from ALT to block
2. put in new voltage regulator
3. swapped out ALT with a know good one, with the new VR in it
4. put new battery cables on both positive and negative
5. checked Battery warning light, it is good
Here is what happened,,, driving in town the car lost power and the charging system,,, chugged to a stop, with the battery dead, I tow the car home,,,, and read all posts and do the 5 things listed above..
the battery warning light will not light up with the ignition on but the engine not running...
So I do all these thing and give the car a jump a and it running good, I check the volts at the battery and it reads 13.65V so I let the car run while I am picking up the tools,,, and the car dies the battery is dead again????? help please,,,,
