Two questions,
Front drivers side brakes are squeeking while NOT braking. Obviously they are rubbing slightly. I was wondering if there is supposed to be a shim between the piston and pad which would angle the pad...its my first SAAB, so I dont know. Or is the "anti squeal" compound mentioned below the solution. I cant feel any vibration in the pedal due to a warped rotor, they pull evenly as well.
I found the text below on a search of the forums.
-----
Brake squeal is due to the brake pads vibrating while they rub on the rotors. You can buy anti-squeal compound and apply it to the BACK of the brake pads. This is just a sticky goop that damps out the vibration. The other thing to do is to chamfer the leading edge of the brake pads (the back edge on the pad) - basically, just use a file to knock the sharp edge off the pad.
-----
Second question is concerning the oil light...should it come on with the key in ON, motor not running? Mine does not, wondering if this is by design or a problem.
