a couple of times to be sure. check it with a battery out of the car to get it operating repeatedly while cleaning. don't try putting shop air through it! i did that once, near took my eye out when it exploded into pieces!
faulty solenoid always produce base boost (as it gets stuck in default position)
one thing, with hose disconnected from solenoid, are you able to drive(using throttle to control/limit boost) holding the boost close to the red line without backfiring? does it only backfire when it dips into red? if it starts backfiring before you get to the red, i think you have another problem, if not, you should be good!
i think eeuroparts (site sponser) has inserts for antenna.
