Short answer: get another engine from a similarly-aged 9000.
The 93 9000 block is completely different vs. c900 -- its pistons are vertically-oriented whereas the 900's are at a 45* angle. But the earlier 9000s shared basically the same motor, so maybe it'd fit? Who knows. I'm guessing there are substantial differences between the early 9000 with the slant motor and the later ones with the vertical. You'd want to ask on the 9000 board.
I wouldn't attempt a 900 swap, though: the 2.1 is not known for its durability, and to get it to work in the 9000 you'd have to find a number of model-specific parts for it, e.g., end plates, etc. In other words, you'd need to mostly tear down the motor.
RE: car weight, 900 vs. 9000 -- I think their weights are fairly close, though you'd think the 9000 would be heavier.
