I've never regretted buying a good tool, even when money was a bit tight.
But I've often regretted buying a poor tool. Cheaping out on tools is expensive in the long run -- heck, often even in the medium-run.
Most recent regret: a $3 spark plug gap tool that bent when I tried to gap an NGK with it. The NGK gap didn't budge. Turns out it wasn't really a gap tool, it was just a soft piece of metal that LOOKED like a gap tool and was being SOLD as a gap tool. All too common.
