Any EGR-experts out there?

My '86 Aero (T16) has the early EGR-system wich is vacuumcontrolled. Does anyone have a schematic for how the vacuumlines are supposed to be hooked up on this?
The car is based here in Norway, so it's an euro-edition.
I have a growing suspicion that some of the lines are installed wrongly by a previous owner...
My lines are (i'll try to explain it in words...): 1 line from the underside of the throttlehousing to the left side of the EGR-valve. 1 line going from the right side of the EGR valve to a plug (temperature sensor for the vacuum, I guess) on the engine-block by the inlet manifold. 1 line going from this plug to the top of a thingy installed on the inside of the left wheel well. And finally (this is the one that seems odd...), one line from the top of this thingy going in a kind of loop and then back to the underside of the same thingy.
Does this sound right? It just seems very odd that this thingy should have a line going from one side of it to the other - why does air have to travel through a line to get from A to B on the same thingy?
