I've done this three times on various 89' and 90' 900's. You'll want to have a torch handy to heat up the area around the clutch shaft seal enough to get the miserable thing out. Have patience, something cold to drink handy, and if possible, a seal puller available. When the rubber part of the seal is smoking hot, it'll come out with a bit of persuasion. I'd replace the pilot bearing. It's cheap and easy to do PLUS taking out the flywheel gives you a look at the rear main seal to see if it's leaking. I've always replaced these main seals as well. They are not expensive and if you work carefully not that hard to get in place straight. Check the web for various home made press tools. I've tried a few of them but always ended up just carefuly taping it in with a very small hammer. The special clutch ring tool is handy but you can use a piece of wire about 4mm in diameter. The handle from a five gallon bucket, a piece of spark plug wire, ( the flexible wound wire rod from a cheap magnetic pick-up tool worked for me once) . A neat trick to use if you decide to replace the clutch package is to use the weight of the car and it's own jack to compress the fingers of the new pressure plate enough to install the wire under the fingers. Use a piece of plywood under the pressure plate to protect the machines surface and an appropriate sized socket between the bottom of the jack and the fingers of the pressure plate.
