Another VDO Guage mystery Posted by ChrisMiami [Email] (#1592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChrisMiami) on Tue, 17 Jul 2007 04:21:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Oil pressure, oil temp, volts. I think I can figure out the voltage guage (and there's a post earlier here about where to connect it). But the oil pressure & temp guages? No clue!
The oil temp guage has a 1232900038 sticker on it - it's from 120-300 F. The pressure is 0-150 lbs/in2.
Question 1: What senders do I need?
Question 2: Where do I put them? Do I need to drill into a casing on the engine? Please don't tell me the temp sender goes in the drain plug.
Question 3: Somewhere I heard the word "gasket" and "adapter". Is my Saab (93 900 TConv) ready to handle these guages?
Question 4: Where should I route the wires into the engine bay?
OK, that's the 'important' stuff. Now, these 3 guages have a hole in the top where I am assuming I can stick a light bulb. Anyone know what bulb? The VDO page on eGuages.com says the bulbs are "self-grounded" but there's no metal housing so I bet there's more than just the bulb missing. Jeeez, this is turning into a real project. Where would I connect the electrical for the bulb? Do I need a new fusebox?
Nothing in Bentley, and boy did I look!
Thanks!!
Chris
