1. With car in gear and clutch out, pressing on gas pedal produces increase in engine rpm without increase in speed.
2. Put in 3rd or 4th gear and let clutch out, if engine continues to run without stalling...
3. I'm assuming the car shifted normally in all gears. Usually clutch failure manifests itself as a gradually worsening (as the clutch friction plate wear increases) of the ability to accelerate or move.
What I'm trying to say is you put the car in gear, press your foot on the gas, but the car acts as though the clutch pedal were depressed part way allowing it to slip.
