the only thing the brass fitting is for is to run the coolant from the lower radiator hose to the carb.
under the rubber shroud there is a brass coolant line which continues a foot down the hose and connects to the heater hose,
this brass coolant line is welded to the front nose piece of the duct-work plug in piece which is only two inches in length.
the rubber hose is wrapped around the back-side of the two inch duct-work plug in piece and continues all the way to the valve cover nipple.
concealing the foot brass radiator hose from view.
perhaps i have a piece left if not ill grab a pic from the motor.
.
.
now in this picture you can see two ends of rubber hoses and the brass line.
one end comes from the carburetor and the other from the heater core hose,
the brass line is inside the discontinued hose.
with the use of a hack saw its only a matter of a few minutes before the brass line can be separated from the duct-work nipple.
all one needs to do to extract the duct-work nipple from the duct-work is pull. there is no hidden force that holds the hose to the duct-work.
again in the pic. you can see the hose shrouded in mesh running under the brass line. this is the two foot radiator hose running to duct-work and to valve cover nipple.
