I am trying to get my 89 sedan turbo ready to pass inspection, but am having trouble with the passenger side rear light cluster. When I started looking at the problem, I noticed that the ground contact on the insert for the cluster showed signs of meltage. So I got another cluster and insert from the boneyard, put a new ground wire in and cleaned the contact point, and thought I should be ready to go. But I am still having issues. Some of the lights come on, some don't, some are occassionally very dim, but if I remove a bulb they get bright, just doesn't seem to be any logic behind it. The lights for the driver side work fine. Could it be the wires are not connected properly (I tried to just do the reverse from the working side), or maybe I just got another bad cluster/insert? Any way I can tackle this as a process of elimination? BTW, I am not too versed with electrical issues (one of my motivations to do this myself), but I do have a multimeter. Thanks for any help!
