I've never had that problem with a 900; even ones that have been sitting outside for years. But, stranger things have happened.
Part of the procedure for removing the slave cylinder is to remove the pressure plate and clutch disc, so that will unstick it fer sure.
I've removed a slave cylinder only once with the pressure plate still attached to the flywheel. It can be done, but it's a rare occurrence.
Since the clutch hydraulics don't work, you will need to use an alternate means for getting the spacer to fit under the clutch fingers.
I found that prying the pressure plate up and inserting 1-1/4" nuts at three points around the pressure plate gives you more than enough clearance to get the spacer in. Then you can remove the nuts and slip the pressure plate/clutch disc/slave cylinder set out. Be very careful with your fingers around there, the pressure plate can snap back if a nut slips and alter your sense of touch for a long time.
Let us know what you find (woodchucks, Jimmy Hoffa, etc.) around the clutch assembly when you open it up.
