im pushing 297,000 miles and never had a over heating problem due to radiator,..... ok ok back on 180,00 had a new one installed.
the only thing i noticed in a cooling problem is the rad. fans tend to go out for no reason.
replaced the passenger side rad fan around 211,000 miles and now it seems the drivers side is starting to give problems.
when the fans are working the oem, or aftermarket radiator is more than equipped for the task and handles it with flying colors.
i have noticed when i was running oem injectors with 2.5 bar when the air fuel mix was leaned out the heat spike was so significant it could be seen 5 minutes afterward through the tep. gauge in cab (it would raise 2/6th hotter, not saying the cooling system could not handle it, but its the only heat spike i found.
along with driving in 100 degree weather, the temp gauge would be steadily at little over half once in a blue moon it would reach 3/4ths, but still the radiator was fine(running a.c.) with this set up.
wasn't untill i went to the red tipped injectors and 3.0 bar.
i burn up fuel faster then i would like but i noticed the air/fuel mix is on the rich side, so much it keeps the heat spike after boosting down to none, in fact i can not get the heat of the car over half running a.c. and boosting all-out in 100 degree weather, with cruise set at 80 (with a.c.) the old set up would stay at a constant half on the tep tac.
now pushing more fuel the heat gauge never climes to half more like 3/8ths leaving the motor nice and cool ready to boost to the next time zone no matter the ambient temperature.
the fuel cost to keep the car running down the road increases significantly but with the throttle response and the cool temps running the motor rich, well it gives me a peace of mind when im 800 miles away from the world, just got to keep an eye out for the next gas station.
so if its a heat problem you have,.... perhaps your running your motor to lean on the air/fuel ratio
