you'll have to fish around in the bottom of the door to find the plastic pin that you pushed in.
When I replaced one of the mirror assemblies on a 900, I just shoved the body of the plastic rivet into the hole to retain the plastic cover. It stayed there with no problems for *years* and didn't pop out, even driving over some of Atlanta's rough roads with a hard suspension.
