to mention the obvious.... if it restarts, then the bat Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Mon, 20 Aug 2007 22:38:51 In Reply to: If the alt ground wire is dying..., Hans, Mon, 20 Aug 2007 20:45:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
still has a charge. so, if i see this correctly, the connection from the battery to the car is the problem. the connection is good, the car starts. the car runs, and at some point the battery connection fails, the alternator carries the load until it is overwhelmed, then the car dies. so, the problem is one of the battery leads. i suggest, for diagnosis, hooking a jumper cable from earth to neg bat, and a jumper from pos bat to starter motor (obviously just replacing the original lines, but leaving them intact). after that, i don't know, but please pursue this and post the follow up!
by the way, there are alot of posts (and my own personal experience) of those big cables screwing up! sometimes just the connections need to be cleaned properly, but the cable inside the insulation can get screwed up, trust me!
