Have you lubricated the lock cylinder recently?
Also, if the key is worn, you can get a fresh one made by Saab (don't be surprised if they give you some ridiculous waiting interval first) if you bring in your vehicle ident number. If the lock cylinders have been changed to a different pattern, you can also give them the code off of the cylinder and they can make a key for that.
Saab keys are made to the original pattern instead of being a copy of your worn, used key. Also, they use high-quality key blanks so they don't bend or break as easily as the high-copper blanks at other stores.
You may notice a metal flap and rubber seal setup on some of your lock cylinders. Usually this flap breaks away with time (say, nineteen years) and dirt and rain can enter the cylinder more easily through the keyhole, requiring more frequent lubrication. A good penetrating solvent will displace dirt inside the cylinder, and just about any silicone-based lubricant after that will free up the innards. Here in New York (not city) I've found that the de-icing lubricant found at most auto stores can be used year-round with good results, and when things get very, very cold, the locks usually work.
