Todd,
How many miles are on your gearbox and has it ever been rebuilt before? Somewhere around 150,000 miles problems usually begin to occur. The 1-2 shift forks in these units wear badly and eventually cause incomplete throw in one direction or the other. As for the synchro-mesh balk rings, one has to be the first to go and it's often second or third. Are you getting any pinion bearing whine? That could be commensurate with enough mileage to have those other parts worn. You should also take a hard look at the function of your clutch. If it's action is slowly diminishing it will begin to cause hard shifting which can, at first, be most noticeable in just one gear. That's generally a hydraulic problem rather than a plate/disk problem. Good luck
