There is no good way to prolong the headliner redo,if you spray it with glue it will be more of a pain to get the foam off later when you can't stand it falling in your face anymore.
Use Felt for the headliner material, it's alot cheaper and comes in a bunch of different colors, and it will form to the contours and shapes of the headliner board, and looks real good too! Use a good 3M adhesive for the glue. You can but the felt at all most any fabric store , I think even wally world carries it, and the felt is about 1/4 the price of "headliner" material, the glue is more than $10 a can, you will use 2 cans. do a search on the BB's for the R&R.
I redid my 83's about 2 months ago, it was a job but it looks really good and I am very happy with how it turned out , I've used the "headliner" material before and it is nowhere as easy to work with. I also had a '79 900 that someone "painted" the headliner..... well it was NOT pretty...looked kinda like a wadded up piece of old toilet paper put on the roof of the car.
But good luck on whatever you decide!
