Hi Everyone,
I'm at my wits end. I have recently had the soft top and the vinyl liner in which it resides when down, replaced on my wife's 1995 900S Convertible. My problem is that rain water that gets into the liner is draining into the rear nearside passenger footwell instead of out through the sill drain holes. The water is coming from the drain hose which runs down to the sill area from the rubber cup molded into the liner directly under the soft top motor. I am certain of this as I hosed the soft top after pulling the hose out of its channel and putting it in a bucket. No water drained into the car but the bucket filled nicely so it has to be coming from the hose. This means the hose is not finding its way to the right place after being pushed down into its channel between the 2 body panels and I cannot think of any way of persuading it to cooperate since I cannot see any way to access the end of the hose after it passes into this channel and therefore cannot guide it. I have tried everything I can think of including re-feeding the hose countless times, clearing the sill drain holes, pushing a piece of narrower garden hose down the channel in the hope that, being smaller, it might find its way to the right place, all to no avail - the water still drains into the footwell - from under the rear seat bench.
This morning, in desperation, I took the car to a SAAB main agent and showed him the problem. His answer was that they could probably fix it but a) they had no idea of how they were going to do it since they did not have the manuals for the model and b) they had no idea how long it would take but it was certainly "not a 5 minute job", which at £100 an hour, could prove very, very costly.
Please, please can any of you very knowledgeable chaps help me out with some advice.
Many thanks Paul
