sounds like what happened to my 88spg Posted by vvack0matic [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 1988 SPG phantom no-start issue, mp, Mon, 17 Sep 2007 14:27:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
currently at the saab tec.
i couldn't figure it out, after replacing the diss, coil, apc, ignition amp, pretty much anything i got my hands on.
and still no change.
however talking with one person (non saab tec.) said the reason its drivable is the fuel pump starts to heat up and then shuts off for the 2 hour cool down.
after 4 days of digging to solve the problem i would believe anything i haven't tried. when your having this problem (of no start) unplug the center coil wire from diss. cap.
then attach a spark plug to its end and turn it over looking to see if it sparks. (to narrow it down farther.
my 88 would start in the morning leaving it possible to drive 6 minutes before shutting down and not restarting the rest of the day.
it use to be after every two hours but then for some reason it just became mornings.
heck before i towed the car to the tec. it started for 30 sec. then died.
it had me stumped and at this point its not to get the car running its to find out what can cause this phantom plague.
but with 300,000 miles i don't dought the wires to the fuel pump are hanging by a thread causing the pump to heat up and malfunction, or the hole pump is just shot.
seeing you replaced the sender, did you replace the pump?
sounds like the same no start issue but you got the privilege to drive the car.
the tec. i got my 88spg at is going to look in to it tomorrow and ill post back the results perhaps its something you haven't tried.
