Diagnosing Turbo oil leak

I was sitting in traffic with my 86 spg the other day for about 45min in 74F weather with the temp gauge about normal. Just before I get out the jam I accelerate and blow a big puff of oil smoke out the back not thinking anything about it, oil pressure is still ok.
Since then the turbo has been leaking a small amount of oil from between the core and the exhaust housing but is not blowing any smoke out the back. Any idea what would cause this type of leak/failure?? Carbon Dam? Will it repair itself?
The oil cooled T3 was rebuilt a couple years ago and has been working great, the only special thing is an Cosworth exhaust housing. Thanks.
