you cant go wrong, make sure the motor is tdc, might i add to mark the valve cover on where the shaft of the distributor is at to keep your timing when your reinstalling then have fun.
just a note, taking your time, having a machine shop re-plane the head, reinstalling valve seals in the head i would suggest taking the head to your local Indy. they will be able to pull the valves in the matter of 10 minutes,.. when they get to it that is.
its well worth the 50 buxs for them to mess with the valves,.. might i add after there done sport them a good tip, if they ask for 50 buxs give them 100, they ask for 100 give them 130, and so on.
after the head visited the machine shop and you Indy installing should be a breeze,
Chaz has noted in a previous post to secure the timing chain with a zip tie so the timing can be kept. this is you most challenge to come.
upon removal the chain must remain tight on the lower sprocket at all times if the chain becomes lose and skips over 1 or 2 teeth your operation is screwed. it would be nothing more then a lost cause.
with the chain tight do as Chaz suggested with three zip ties secure the chain tight, use common sense with everything you do and you can`t go wrong. remember the car will be out of service for approximately a week or 2. take your time and be patient
