Neal,
How did it shift before you removed it from the donor? Did you bench test it (shift it through all gears) before installing it? Have you driven a C900 with a five speed before? You have to pick up on the ring below the shift knob in order to get reverse. When you say that you "Can't find" reverse does that mean it grinds and won't engage or that you actually can't get the lever into it's gate (no grinding)? Reverse is the only non-synchromesh gear in that transaxle so the cluster gear has to be still and aligned before you can slip in the reverse idler. Depending on the condition of the reverse idler and mainshft gears you may have to shift into a synchromesh gear first and then into reverse. This applies too almost all C900s these days and most people shift into first or second and then into reverse.
In addition to those concerns there is the adjustment of both the shift rod and the pin on bottom of the shift lever. If the pin isn't being sufficiently raised when you lift the ring you won't be able to move the lever into reverse. To fix that you remove the lever and screw in the pin a little. The adjustment of the shift rod as it relates to the selector shaft is done at the rubberized connector. There is a procedure for that too which should be described in your manual or on other posts here on this BB. That adjustment should always be made any time a five speed is replaced. No two gearboxes are exactly identical and having the shift linkage out of adjustment can cause shifting problems or premature wear and failure.
Good luck
