87 turbo engine died while passing

About 45 degrees outside, sunny. Had been driving for two hours, had shut down twice in that time for errands. Mostly driving at 60-70 mph. Went to pass, while passing engine quit. Turns over just fine, not firing a bit. Assume spark okay ‘cause tach would jump when key was turned. Tried jumping fuel pump straight to battery, pump ran. Plugs were still dry. All vaccum lines attached. New plugs, points, coil, etc few months ago.
Had car towed 35 miles to nearest town to shop I know of, started fine in their parking lot. Left car there for them to look at, mechanic there used to have a few of these, though SAABs are rare in this part of state.
Car had similar problem 2 months ago when I replaced air cleaner, eventually started on ether and ran fine, but at the time I was not convinced the ether had made a difference, just coincidence. My 89 non-turbo has done the same thing at least once.
Loose wire? Bad relay? Worse?
Any quick ideas?
