Actually, I got the nuts at Ace Hardware around the corner from my house. I got them there the last time I replaced brake lines too. I am lucky to have Maryland Metric about 20 miles away but don't think I need anything special in this application. 3 of the 4 nuts survived surgery but replaced them because the look pretty one-use to me. Thanks for the offer; I will buy them off you next time.
I don;t actually buy the fact that the metal piece has any reinforcement purpose. It really looks like a holding fixture so the guys on the assembly line can zip the nuts in quickly on the other side. The floor is plenty beefy where the rear lines come through and the hoses would flex before the floor. I did reuse the fixture though. It sat in the parts washer for a while and then I cleaned it of surface rust and shot it with Chassis Black from Eastwood. It will last another 22 years I am sure.
