A couple things you might try:
1. Replace the transmission fluid - often times notchy synchros just need some new lubricant, and cold weather will make minor problems worse. I really like the Manual Transmission Fluid you can buy at a Honda dealer, but lubes are like religion.
2. A leaky exhaust isn't too big a deal - you can buy the whole thing for about $120 from eeuroparts and have a shop install it. It'll be ~$250 when you're done, but it'll be like new.
3. Smoke doesn't sound good - but may not be bad. Keep your eye on it for sure.
