So today was an unusually warm day for NYC. I of course, just got my car back early this afternoon and just HAD to drive through Manhattan on some goofy errands (picking up a poster of *myself* at Bergdorf Goodman Dept Store) and then realizing that there isn't any street parking in West Midtown Manhattan in the afternoon. Whoops. 45 minutes of trying not to go to Jersey......

But I looked super cool driving in 1st gear for *ages* figuring out the cheapest parking building. Someone asked me if I was "Rosie the Riveter"! (fyi, I wasn't wearing a costume!!!) I'm resigned that I am hooked on my car, it is so fun to drive and I was appalled when the guy a the parking garage, upon bein told he might have to roll the car a bit to get the gears to engage out of reverse, said "That car probably isn't worth replacing the transmission...." HEY!!! I rolled my eyes knowing he didn't have a CLUE what he was talking about.

Later when I stupidly got stuck in the mobs of revelers and ended up on a street that I couldn't turn off of due to Parade closings (ack, Again, trying not to go to Jersey!) I got a TON of attention. Initially I thought it was my noisy exhaust or the fact that the temperature dropped but my top was still down (hello SEAT WARMERS!) and I looked silly.

But then as I cruised through the Lower East Side some malt liquor swillin' teens on a stoop bugged out and said "Yo, lookah that Saab!" "Thing's like a space ship, man. That's a CLASSIC." And one girl said "Mama, that is one hot car!!!" I smiles and waved like Miss America.

My mama was right, everyone's just jealous.

So I might have spent as much as my rent on my car today, but I'm saying it was worth EVERY penny.

*sigh* It was a good day.
