sounds like a simple plug change, rotor, dis cap. possibilly faulty plug wires (or just one of them)
the hose your talking about should be under vacuum when the motor is idling.
if your turbo tac. in cab works then the hose is under vacuum.
when the gas is applied the hose will start to return to normal atmospheric pressure, untill the turbo unit kicks in, at which point will start to increase the air with in the motor. (above atmospheric pressure)
and will show on the turbo tac. in cab.
looking at the tac. a reading under the white line, the motor is under vacuum, anything above the white line the pressure in the motor is above earth pressure.
the white line is neutral.
if the needle is not working its because the motor can not under go the conditions (vac. leak, same as having a hole in your tire )
cant pump it up untill its patched.
the aic hose, is showing the motor is undergoing pressure flux.
only thing that can happen.
if there's a vac. leak
the hose would be able to be pressurised a little, but would not be able to go under vacuum.
this would indicate why on high rpms with the turbo trying to build pressure to supply air to the vacuum leak and the motor there may be some power (base boost).
but even with the motor running in base boost the car should be able to polish off a Camry, at the very lest hold onto its back bumper.
(running with a stock set up, stop light racing a celica (2000 something) the spg blew it out of the water. but just so happened to also blow off the apc valve vac. hose running to turbo unit, on the next stop light as it turned green i found the celica found new power as it was keeping up with me, in fact the jump off the light it had held all the way to the next light. same out come three lights after-wards.
dazed and confused about the hose incident life went on, but never the less, base running should hold ground even when in stock.
which is why it makes me think its a problem with ignition.
get a can of carb. cleaner, or electrical cleaner, and spray in every plug, (fuel injectors, amm port, aic port, plug wires, diss cap, rotor, tps, diss plug.)
after the can is gone take the car for a spin.
(just a note: this exact hose your talking about i needed to replace it.
and found when the motor went under vacuum it caused the new hose to compress fully, shutting off all vacuum flow. (this is how hard the motor should compress)
after seeing this i found a spring to fit inside the hose, big enough to hold inside the hose firmly & now is imposable for the hose to cut off vacuum.)
at idle is where the most vacuum the motor will pull.
oil is common to be lined through-out all the pipe work, hoses, intake manifold, and so on.
the main culprit is the valve cover that causes all the mess.
on top of the valve cover there is that plastic nipple, the one with a vacuum line, and the bigger hose.
this assembly of hoses is nothing more then a oil supply line.
the lower hose transports oil to the air duct work. and with the help of the turbo unit, oil gets sprayed through out the rest of the motor.
the little hose (vacuum line) can transport oil, but being as small as it is, not much in quantity at all.(note this vac.hose needs a pcv valve to keep the valve cover from experiencing the above atmospheric pressure created by the turbo unit, with out it the valve cover gasket can blow)
for the oil, look at it as an extra added lube to keep everything nice and slippy.
don't get me wrong now.
the valve cover is made to stop oil from getting to these lines and it dose a good job of it. but some dose get by
