none of that in 1985

The SPG was introduced in 1985 and it took SAAB a few years add any performance enhancements. Horsepower was not increased for the 1985 SPG. Also, the suspension was not lowered for the 1985 SPG. In 1985, only the SPG had swaybars, but they eventually became standard equipment in all 900s.
The 1985 SPG is an awesome car, however it differs only cosmetically from the 'regular' 1985 turbo. While you may be disappointed to hear that, you may be gladdened to know that you can recreate your beloved SPG by the relatively simple addition of a body kit and 3-spoke wheels to a clean 1985 turbo of the same color (or different color if you want a change). You could do the same to an 1986 turbo and the only difference would be the additional side marker lights.
This topic has been discussed a lot on this bulletin board, but feel free to ask any specific question you'd like and I'll try to give an answer.
