I am in a similar situation with a '89 SPG. A knucklehead pulled in front of me causing the accident. The driver was issued a citation. I am a little sore but getting better. I JUST WANT MY CAR BACK IN ORDER...LOTS OF SWEAT EQUITY. The car is a rust free Arizona car and I am the third owner. It now shows 199K miles however I have all receipts back to the original owner. I repainted the car last year, have done all of the upgrades, repairs etc. only issue was a sagging headliner which was last on the list. Spent $3.7K on some repairs from a reputable tier two repair shop that I did not and did not have the time to do myself. I have all of the before and after pictures and receipts for everything.
My challenge (and I expect it to be one) is to prove the value which I estimate somewhere around $4.5K. Thanks to Saabnet and a local Saab dealer I've established an excellent relationship I have source all of the used parts.
As a fyi, my research tells me that once the value is agreed upon one may buy the car back. Some insurers have a policy to allow the buy back based on 20% of the agreed upon value. So if I land on $4.5k than I am looking to buy the car back for $800-$900 leaving me the difference to ensure I get the car back to the pristine condition prior to the accident.
