Transmission leak turns out to be loose hose coupling!!

Taking Whitesaabs wisdom -- that the leak was most likely hose rather than seal related -- I went back to the scene of the crime, poured in a quart of fluid, turned on the car and checked to see where the leak was.

Almost immediately, fluid came pouring out of -- frothing no less --
where one of the transmission hoses couples with the front housing
of the transmission. There is over 3/8 inch of threaded connection showing. Stopped the engine and am now making plans for
how to get my wrench and hands into the connection spot to tighten it.

Can't believe that connection would come loose after 20 years unless someone had recently loosened it. Surely adding the K&W seal conditioner shouldn't effect a steel-to-steel threaded coupling.

I had my SAAB service guys put in a new fan just over this spot. Can't believe they had to mess with this connector to install the fan.

Shucks, I may find the leak I have been babying for over a year came
from this very spot.

Thanks again, Whitesaab for encouraging a fresh look at the situation.
I'll let you know how it turns out!
