I have the opposite problem on my '88- the cable has to be routed carefully or it will rub on the inside of the left rear wheel. I suppose you could drill out the old bracket and use one from a new parking brake cable, or you can just hold it in place with some cable ties. The routing inside the car under the rear seat is important. If you move the cable housinge around there you can get it in the right alignment in the wheel well.
