When checking a Saab for boost, the instructions tell you to find an uphill that you can open up the turbo in 3rd gear. Turbos offer high end power. I recently read a review about a turbo Chevy. They claimed the automatics are faster, because you can hold you foot on the brake, and get the turbo to spool up before you launch. With the manual transmission, the turbo cuts out in 1st & 2nd gear.
