kerwin,
Have you checked the differential lubricant lately? You know that unlike the C900 5 speed transaxle the differential in your T37 automatic transaxle is "walled off" from the transmission and runs in different lube. I used to put 80w gear oil in them but 10w30 motor oil is also a Saab recommended lube (and that's what the 5 speed diff's. run in). There is a drain plug on the bottom, approximately between the axles, and a filler plug on the right (passenger) side just above and in front of the axle housing. You unscrew it with a 3/8" drive tool and fill the oil up to the hole. It's best to keep using whatever lube has been in there as you shouldn't mix lube types here and it's not very practical to clean it out. Gear oil has the characteristic sulfur smell to it. In the T37 there are 2 opposed oil seals between the pinion bearings to keep the differential lube and the ATF from mixing. Failure of either the pinion bearings or those 2 oil seals is very rare in the T37 and usually a result of running the differential dry to the point of gear failure. Good luck.
