I used to do that for some DIY'ers who decided to put HID lenses into their h/l units.
Damn hard. And special equipment is definitely required as well as skills. Otherwise you'll kill your glasses either cause of overheat or just pilish'em to holes
To my own experience I'd recommend the following:
- check reflector. If it can be replaced then replace it. Otherwise try to find someone who can restore it (I found local factory that does some 'chroming'; they used special vacuum equipment to renew my reflectors' surfaces)
- check and replace glass
- search for GOOD bulbs. I'm not talking about 'Zenon 150W' or 'Megalight allseason rally ultra edition' but Philips/Osram.
- Got money and will? Go to EU conversion. Btw check the pic below - I think those h/l units (on black C900) should fit US headlights, uh? I've got a spare couple of them. For free only shipping payments required.
If someone is interested I can get back to you with their dimensions and closer pics.
