boosting into red is the boost override switch under dash.
with this still equipped in the car, there is no way the car will boost into red. all turbo cars came equipped with the switch,... although it more like a cylinder plunger looking thing.
with out mods just with this switch taken out the car is able to boost into 1/4th red, with mods (3.0,apc,30lb,..) the car boosts to mid red and preform like a v8 on steroids.
don't get me wrong, the car with mods is more than capable of boosting past mid red, however my experience in this gives me complete electrical failure of the motor for 1 sec. (at 3/4ths red) im suspecting the oem coil)
there is also a fuel cut off switch under dash that protects the motor but i have yet to trip it,....hmm now that i think about it, my electrical failure could very well be the fuel switch....
how a bout that,.... but over all i have no need to boost past mid. red.

there is a procedure on how to override the switch, one just dont yank it out and thats that, hoses need to be plugged and wires buttoned up.
(just a precaution)
by pulling this switch, it only brings the motor just that much closer to head-gasket failure
i would suspect nicknick`s over boost switch has been pulled and over road giving the car the ability to boost into motor death land.
