The lack of heat means that hot coolant isn't making it to the heater core. That could be because the coolant isn't hot due to a stuck open thermostat, or the link to the heater valve is broken, or low coolant levels let air in, and that air is trapped in the heater core and doesn't allow heating.
First - Find your coolant leak. Next, is the temp gauge going up to normal when the engine is warm? It should go up to about 9:00 when the engine is warm. If the needle is down at the bottom, then the thermostat is stuck open. Replace the thermostat.
Make sure the heater knob is connected - pop the left hand speaker grill off, and look in. Make sure the shaft is turning when you turn the knob.
If the system got low, after you add coolant, bleed the system. An air bubble will lodge in the heater core. Hot coolant is a good way to get air warm. A hot air bubble won't. To bleed, start with a cold engine. Find the bleed nipple right by the thermostat. Put a hose on it into a jar. Start the car, and crack open the nipple until liquid comes out. It'll likley spit air. Keep the end of the hose in the liquid. Let it spit air for a bit, then close the nipple, and let the car warm up. Periodically crack open the nipple. If no air comes out, the system is bled.
