for a turbo car it is essential the plugs are in prime form.
telling if the plugs are bad can not be seen by just looking at them
if you owned the car for a good period amount of time, then knowing if the plugs are spent will be easy.
you mentioned you have a bit more boost then normal,
and this is how to tell if your plugs are spent or not.
with spent plugs you will never reach your full boost, and if the plugs are still not changed for sometime after eventaully your car will not build any boost.
funny you should mention plugs, as my plugs are spent.
once you can not achieve pure boots when you know your car just should have there spent. even after you noticed this
it may be the next time you boost it will be pure and the next,
then the 3rd light or 3rd time you try your cars far from a pure boost,
this scenario is the start of spent plugs, (just a note: not using NGK plugs, this performance is normal on good plugs)
if you have NGK and this is whats happening its time for new plugs,
new NGK`s (7ix) will be banging with pure boost for about 3 to 7 months on a slightly modded car, a heavily modded car 2-5
you can judge from the length of time they were installed and the performance of the car.
the ignition is straight forward.
if its bad the car wont start,&/or the car will never achieve boost (spent coil)
i make it a habit when replacing plugs i clean rotor, diss. cap points,
just to insure new life of my new plugs.
when the motor is running & boosting flawlessly plug change is clear as night and day.
