these things are dead simple...use a common LED circuit with 12v power. You can get a bundled LED (like a spare instrument light) or a regular 12v light bulb, maybe 2-5 watt, and set it up so the power goes to the bulb first and then to the sender. The sender is a grounding switch. Then run the engine and see if the bulb behaves normally.
If the bulb/light now behaves normally, the problem is in the connection or power to the dash bulb...you'll have to check the connector (perhaps the plastic circuit board is old/breaking down).
Worst case, just solder in a jumper wire from a switched power source to the plus/power side of the instrument cluster oil pressure light. Make sure it's switched, i.e., live with the ignition on, because you are in essence hooking up another power source to the circuit board, in parallel with whatever circuit is supplying the instrument cluster now.
