Mark,
If the car runs well then you shouldn't do anything until you know with certainty whether it's getting proper mileage or not. Lacking an odometer the only way to determine that is to gas up at a highway ramp, make note of the the mile marker, run down the highway for a significant distance like 50-100 miles and note the mile marker as you get off someplace where there is a station right at the ramp and then see how many gallons it takes to fill up. I've done that test myself so many times on I-70 during road trips that I should be able to tell you which stations in Missouri have the best coffee. Slapping in a good used speedometer isn't really that big of a deal either. I would advise that you use OEM type ignition components for best performance and mileage. Bougicord wires, NGK (BP6ES, or BCP6ES) plugs, Bosch cap and rotor, etc. After an oil change (every 3000 miles) my '86 and '87 C900 turbos get slightly better mileage and run noticeably a little better, no kidding. Cheers
