Good evening,

Just a quick recommendation about suspension work, since I've read some varying opinions here: I highly suggest the use of a strut compressor, as opposed to the method of blocking the upper control arm to take the tension off the coil spring.

I recently bent the sheet metal on my '86 SPG using the blocking method (probably too many years of old break pads and pieces of wood, as opposed to the SAAB special tool), something which would've been avoided with the compressor (to which I finally resorted).

If you're renting from you local parts store, be sure to get the strut compressor (not the coil spring compressor) as I don't believe that the coil spring compressor (with the centre screw piece) would ever fit in a C900 coil spring. The strut compressor work seperately on either side, and while it takes a while going back and forth tightening each side, but it works. Also, it seems to be necessary to use the compressor upside-down (with the tightening nuts at the top), in order to have enough clearance in the wheel well.
