Thermostat diverts water to rad only, once temp goes Posted by nicknick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: No heat, Logan, Tue, 1 Jan 2008 14:43:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
above half way. then you have no heat inside. if the fans don't work, the temp will keep climbing. if the fan switch is bad, they will come on late, if not at all. if the rad is partially blocked (as happened to me) the hot coolant will not really reach the switch, and all this will happen with a good switch, and good fans. obviously, the cheap start is with bleeding, but...
i used an infra-red temp gun and could 'see' that the rad was not getting hot up in the corner where the switch is.
this will lead to your condition.
$50 rad flush at local rad workshop fixed it.
try jumping the rad switch for a trip on the same road, i bet you have heat all the way-if so, check the switch first, then clean the rad.
how old is the rad? what coolant have you been using?
good luck.
