ALL C900 saabs have a bonded rubber coupling which connects the two shift control shafts, the one going from the shift lever and the one coming from the transaxle. The older cars had a round rubber connector and the later cars have the dogbone style. The older style was actually more reliable but given the age of those cars now it's not unusual to see even the old round type separating at the rubber to steel interface. (I replaced two in 2007). I'm pretty sure that the round style is not available new, or costs a fortune, so that's why I suggested that if you need one, check with the salvage guys. Cheers
