Re: $900 wood dash facia?......... Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: $900 wood dash facia?........., Peter Martin ![]() |
Yeah, AFAIK the Saab-made kits were dash only, and never included the glovebox door - both convertibles I've had with factory/dealer wood dashes were only the fascia. I think turbocon86 said the same thing elsewhere in the thread. I never saw the auction, but I'd wager if it included anything other than just the fascia and the wood grains were the same on all parts, it was an aftermarket kit.
The problem with selling anything unusual or rare for an older car like a c900 is that there is as much myth as fact amongst the community. Selling a "geniune Saab" dash that isn't genuine is like selling "SPG door handles" or "Aero headlight switches."
As for the angry seller claiming attacks on him, I say tough luck. Maybe he's right, and this was a genuine part and the ten of us are wrong. Who's to say? Personally, I enjoy the commentary on ebay auctions gone wild - silently watching in horror as people bid up a "rare euro heater control valve" makes me sad. If I was a buyer, I'd like a place to verify an ebay seller's claims before forking over the dough. If this guy got $900 on a truly ultra-rare part, more power to him. If he's telling fibs or making unsubstantiated claims at some poor schmuck's expense, well, tsk tsk. All I know is that I think I could count on one hand the number of people who could genuinely identify a CE from an optioned-up c900, and I know that I'm not one of them.
