Sorry in advance for being long winded... I am looking for advise regarding windshield parts for a 88 Saab convertible. My windshield has a large crack and needs to be replaced. Seemed simple enough until I went to the windshield place. This windshield has multiple pieces which typically need to be replaced when installing a new windshield. I believe they called it a decor strip but what it is is a hard seal that goes around the glass and then attaches to the rubber part which is glued onto the frame. They did not have these parts in their system so I went to the local dealer to purchase them only to learn that two of the main pieces (the left and right large L shaped pieces) have been discountinued. The windshield place said that while they try to salvage as many of the pieces they, can they will not start the replacement without all the replacement parts on hand because majority of the time a lip on these hard decor pieces breaks off during removal. This puts me in a very bad spot since I cannot find the parts. I need to have this windshield replaced ASAP since it is 4 months passed inspection and I am hoping maybe someone can help me figure out a way to obtain these parts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
