Avari,
Maybe you know all of this but in 1986 Saab changed the dimensions of the inner driver and tripod on the 900. The plan was that as they wore out on earlier cars they would be retrofitted with the new larger drivers and tripods so before long the old style parts were no longer available. If you have an inner driver that is vibrating you can indeed swap the left for the right and MAYBE resolve the vibration on acceleration issue (although it will then vibrate when reversing at high speed!). That requires that you remove and replace both inner drivers so twice the work and don't forget that with both inner drivers out at the same time you either have to hold the differential carrier up with a dummy axle or remove the rear cover so you can pick up the carrier to re-insert the axles (so more work). If you just want to put a new (or good salvaged) inner driver where needed you should determine whether you have the original inner drivers or replacement later ones. You could even have one of each. The easy give-away is that the early ones (no longer available) have three raised rings around. The outer-most ring is covered by the boot so you can't actually see it but there is one ring at the edge of the boot and then another one farther along which you can see. The later, newer inner driver only has two rings, the one which is covered by the boot and the one at the edge of the boot. From there on the shell is smooth. Keep in mind that the tripod bearing must match the inner driver and while it's possible to slip the early small tripod into the later larger inner driver you will experience a carnival-like vibration ride! Of course you can't fit the larger tripod into the smaller inner driver but some guys have tried (bigger hammer method). Even several years ago good used early type inner drivers were getting rare so it was standard practice to install the new larger drivers and tripods when needed. Those are still somewhat available as good used parts. I personally would never install a used tripod bearing. If you have a good inner driver and the tripod craps out it can take the inner driver with it and new tripod bearings are still pretty affordable. Good luck
