I did the change over on my 91/900s. The rebuilt where suppose to have the rings on them and didn't. call the supplier and they said to call the remand. Co. To hell with all the B.S. about dealing with all this time and core charge. Instead, I used a gear puller and removed the old ring. P.I.T.A. Not much lip to grab with the puller. I think you could use a few screw drivers if your careful. Replacement on the new axle was easiest. Just put the used ring on the stove top with the axle close and after it gets hot (not glowing red) drop it onto the axle stub right side up! Wear some leather gloves, of couse. If it doesn't sit flat after its cooled off, just tap lightly with a wooden block. Take your time if you choose to go with the need to change over the ring. The next time I replace the opposite axle on the 91/900s I bought an axle from (Rockauto.com)and it comes with everything you need and it had the ring already on it. With the rebuilt axles, be sure to loosen-up the tripod bearings with oil before you install as these then to be dried of oil and slightly seized when you get them. No big deal. Its just from sitting on the storage shelf waiting for you to buy.
