I am assuming you mixing Zerex with tap water, you may have agressive water where you live. Sample the tap water you are using to mix with your antifreeze/coolant and send it in for testing. I believe they recommend using only distilled water with any mix of anifreeze/coolant.
If you are not mixing it, that is an issue in itself, as Zerex is more "slippery" than water and will find leaks before it's water counterpart does.
When you replace the stat and o-ring, be sure to clean out the area where the o-ring sets, also check your torque down bolts per the Bentley, possible that the t'stat housing is warped from over torque of bolts, over heating, etc. causing early failure of the o-ring seal, and be sure to only use distilled water as the mixing agent. Let us know how you turn out, follow up posts are greatly appreciated.
