Re: vert rear window glue? Posted by DivrDon [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 94 vert rear window glue?, Ken ![]() |
My bottom separated several years ago. The local top shop guy said he could repair it and would use silicone glue. Did it my self. Place tape along the line left behind by the cloth edge. Loosen the window to take the tension off. Clean the glass and cloth to remove the old glue. (3M general purpose adhesive cleaner.) Put a generous amount of silicone glue/caulking on the glass and carefully align the cloth along the tape line and press it into the glue. Since it at the top, I would put some saran wrap along both sides of the seam and then clamp with some wood pieces to distribute the clamping force. Let it set up for a few days, then peel and trim.
Did this to the bottom of my rear window in 2000. Its still tight and sealed.
BTW, I would not use weather strip adhesive unless you can work fast. It tends to skin up quickly.
