I have replaced my dash with a "better" used version. It is not hard, but it does take patience and time. I would say low-moderate on difficulty scale for a novice DIY.
Original dashboards in good shape go for a lot of money. I say one on e-bay go for more than $500 (maybe more, I forget).
This what I plan to do in the next phase of my SPG restoration this summer:
There are two companies that restore your dash to new: dashbaords USA
( http://www.dashboardrestorations.com/contacts.htm ) and Just Dashes
( http://www.justdashes.com/Index.htm ).
I have heard that just dashes will do a job for ~$500 (don't quote me though, and you pay for shipping), and the quality is top-notch. Try a search for either company on this board, or try calling them. I think it is money better spent.
